Job Description :

The Role:
Christie’s works both in the art world and the restitution community to expand scholarship around the history of collecting and the art market as well as supporting the resolution of restitution claims for consigned artworks. The successful candidate will be offered a six month internship opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support due diligence work on auction and private sales; including administrative support for checking databases and maintaining records of research executed; contacting art departments to raise awareness of due diligence requirements
  • Support research and claim work; including research, archives and library work; support drafting internal correspondence and reports
  • Team administration including updating the team calendar, setting up meetings, tracking projects and updating reports, ex. maintaining excel ‘runners’; filing of claims and sale documentation; occasional support Global Head of Department and Directors with travel planning.
  • Inputting new research into restitution databases; maintaining integrity of information
  • Assisting in preparation of reports as directed
  • Maintaining departmental library and materials; assist with organization of e-folder and shared team resources (ex. finding aides)
  • Support organization and practical arrangements for the 2023
    Reflecting on Restitution
    programme (from London, no travel involved)
  • Other projects as directed
The Candidate:
  • Meticulous and focused approach with a strong eye for detail
  • Team player and ability to work with all departments at Christie’s
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Word, Excel; ability to work with databases
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good art historical knowledge and understanding of research steps
  • Familiarity with restitution issues
  • Good French and German, additional languages desirable
