About the Job

We’re looking for an experienced Bioinformatics Data Scientist (m/f/d) to join one of our Portfolio companies and lead the development of an integrated automated lab and data/ML infrastructure, reporting directly to the CTO.

In your day-to-day work, you’ll focus on solving complex bioinformatic challenges and get the opportunity to contribute to various projects.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Apply strong expertise in analysis of biological data
  • Execute full lifecycle software development, using issue tracking and code versioning tools
  • Write well designed, testable and efficient code, mainly in Python
  • Document and maintain software functionality
  • As the Project owner you will be responsible for key aspects of projects, including specific business needs and figuring out the right solutions, data types and analysis techniques to address them
  • Share your knowledge with other team members, thereby enabling them to contribute to projects.
  • Perform rapid prototyping and agile development, leveraging expertise from within and outside the company building towards the best solutions in an interdisciplinary environment
Your Profile

  • Post-Graduate professional experience across at least 1 of computational biology, bioinformatics or data science disciplines
  • Subject matter expert in at least 1 of retrosynthetic algorithms for pathway design, synthetic biology, lab automation, feature engineering, supervised and unsupervised machine learning
  • Fully proficient with a programming language (Python, R or similar) leveraging packages such as Pandas, Plotly Dash, sci-kit learn etc.
  • Well versed with databases, data structures and preferably large datasets in a distributed environment
  • Ideally, you have experience working in ModelOps as well as containerised and cloud development environments
  • Preferably, you have experience working as an applied scientist, or closely with wet-lab biologists
  • Strong communication skills in English and the ability to describe complex data and ideas to various audiences
  • Relevant degree in biological, bioinformatics, computational biology, or other computational sciences or related field (preferably to a PhD, post-doctoral level
Please note that we are looking for support in the LONDON office of our portfolio company. Eligibility to work within the UK is required as well.
