Job overview
We are looking to recruit a full-time Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the Medicine & Surgery OT team based at QMC either permanently or on a 2 year, fixed-term contract or secondment. The role is predominantly clinical but also involves some service development.

The Medicine & Surgery OT team is committed to delivering high quality person-centred assessment, treatment and rehabilitation to our patients whilst optimising patient flow within the acute setting. Therapies and Rehabilitation Services is one of the directorates that together make up the Clinical Support Division at NUH. We are a diverse pathway of AHPs and support staff, employing over700 staff who work together to deliver the high quality care we aspire to.
Our HCPC registered AHP professionals comprise of physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, orthotists, prosthetists and speech and language therapists, and our other staff encompass professionals such as nurses, psychologists, administrative and clerical and support workers.
We have a Chief AHP to lead us on our strategic direction, and many of the pathway leadership team have pathway AHP backgrounds to support our staff. There are also Practice Development Therapists to support career development for all.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful applicant will demonstrate advanced level occupational therapy skills in assessment and diverse interventions including rehabilitation, seating, positioning, splinting and discharge planning. An in-depth understating of stoke and or neurology assessments and interventions is essential for this role and experience of critical care is desirable.
A willingness to learn and develop further, both clinically and professionally and to lead on this within the team is essential. The successful applicant must be open minded to new ways of working and lead on this. The ideal individual for this role needs to be flexible, dynamic and forward thinking. Strong leadership qualities are essential in this post.
You will be working as part of large inter and multi-professional teams who will give support and training for you to develop in this role to reach your full potential. Also, to advocate strongly for the OT role in the MDT setting. You will demonstrate an ability to work autonomously to an advanced level and provide support to other members of the team, including peers, Band 5 OT’s, including preceptees, support workers and students. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work flexibly to support the needs of the service.

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
