Genomics England partners with the NHS to provide whole genome sequencing diagnostics. We also equip researchers to find the causes of disease and develop new treatments – with patients and participants at the heart of it all.

Within this role you'll be responsible for Architecting solutions that support the interpretation of genomic data to support NHS clinicians. As a member of our interpretation product squad you'll be working in close partnership with the NHS and AWS as we seek to deliver transformative insights and visualisations of complex genomics data.

On a day-to-day basis you'll be working on API Architecture, whether that's AWS API Gateway or focusing on Microservices and Serverless technologies. You'll be working with Big Data Platforms so day to day you'll be using things like; AWS RDS, AWS Redshift, AWS document DB and MongoDB

At the heart of everything you'll be a problem solver with strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to bring a technical design to life. You'll ideally have knowledge and experience in some of the following:

• Experience with development of complex decision support systems including advanced visualisation
• Good exposure to API Architecture
• Strong knowledge of Big Data Platforms
• Solid AWS Architecture experience
• Knowledge of Security Architecture
• Web application architecture Python / React
• Knowledge of or an interest in Genomics

Genomics England operates a blended working model as we know our people appreciate the flexibility. We expect most people to come into the office 2 times each month as a minimum. However, this will vary according to role and will be agreed with your team leader. For some people this is 1 day a quarter, for others it is several days a week. There is no expectation that staff will return to the office full time unless they want to. The exception would be some of our roles that would require you to be on site full time e.g., lab teams, reception team.

Our teams and squads have, and will continue to, reflect on what works best for them to work together successfully and have the freedom to design working patterns to suit, beyond the minimum. Our office locations are Canary Wharf, Cambridge and Leeds.
