Are you a Comms expert with a passion for dog welfare? Do you want to help us influence public policy to give dogs the voice they deserve?

We are looking for a Strategic Communications Manager to plan the delivery of our communications and digital outreach for our political campaigning and community initiatives. This role requires a confident communicator who will work closely with our Public Affairs, Community Outreach and Veterinary teams to advise on the best communications methods and tools to deliver our campaigning objectives.

The Strategic Comms team sits within the Communications and Digital directorate. Communications and Digital plays a central role at Dogs Trust. We help people know, love and understand the charity and take action to support the charity’s work. We use our understanding of Dogs Trust and audience need to produce impactful and creative on-brand communications, liaising with the media and celebrities, and engaging directly with our supporters. We also play a crucial role in evolving the digital supporter experience and use our internal communications expertise to communicate key messages to employees across Dogs Trust.

The Strategic Communications Manager will function as a bridge between Directorates and the delivery teams within Comms, drawing on your interest in and experience of the political landscape to develop and deliver a diverse programme of communication plans. In addition, this role will support special projects such as our response to the Cost-of-Living crisis and our diverse range of community initiatives to improve dog welfare.

To be successful in this role you will have experience of planning and implementing audience-driven communications initiatives at a senior level. You will be an experienced senior relationship manager who is able to bring about a change in culture and processes, with excellent organisation and time-management skills and an ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
