Could you play a key role in influencing and shaping the regulation of health and social care services in Jersey?
The Jersey Care Commission is responsible for regulating and inspecting services for adults and children, including care homes, day care provision, home care services and children’s social work services, including children’s homes, fostering and adoption and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAHMS). In 2025 the Commission’s remit will expand further, to include acute hospital, community mental health and ambulance services.
Further information about the Care Commission can be found here https://carecommission.je
The Minister for the Environment intends to appoint two Commissioners to join the existing team, people who are passionate about helping to improve the quality of health and social care services and are willing to work as part of the team.
Applicants should have previous experience of working in a health, social care, or related regulatory environment. We are keen to receive applications from persons with proven capability in the delivery of health care, with experience of working at a senior level in either an acute hospital, mental health, or community setting. We are also keen to receive expressions of interest from individuals who have proven ability in the delivery of social care provision for either adults or children. Commissioners are required to work approximately 8 days per annum, at a daily rate £340 per day, plus expenses. Appointments will be for an initial three-year period.
(Prospective applicants should be aware of certain disqualifications as set out in Schedule 2, Part 4 of the Regulation of Care Jersey Law 2014).
For further information, or for an informal discussion about the work of the Commission, please contact Becky Sherrington, Chief Inspector on 01534 445801.
