The R&D Data Office, within DS&AI, is a key organisation to deliver upon AstraZeneca’s strategy. Data Office operates a central capability, with R&D wide accountability, to ensure that we harness the power of data to drive innovative science. Data Office will govern data, drive data quality and ensure our data is readied for analytics, creating paved-paths for scientists to perform data-driven research, without compromising our legal restrictions or ethical principles.
Within Data Office, you will direct Data Provisioning Operations. Your team are responsible for enabling and accelerating innovative science in R&D business units through the efficient coordination and delivery of data provisioning services to R&D customers.
This is a leadership and management position. You will report to the Head of FAIR Data Services and will use their guidance and strategic leadership to run the Data Provisioning Operations team and line-managing the associated staff, who will perform daily delivery activities. The efficient operation and staffing of the operations team will be your responsibility and you will be accountable for their ability to deliver.
In this role you will be empowered to devise an operating strategy and introduce a delivery model for your team that drives data provisioning services to internal AstraZeneca customers, and also our research collaborators.
Your team’s activities will directly enable research in multiple therapy areas across AstraZeneca, in turn allowing AstraZeneca to bring new medicines to patients.
The role holder will also support introduction of innovative technological tools to develop new approaches to broaden the search-ability usability and efficient management of data provisioning processes to maximise business value from data assets.
Responsible for running the Data Provisioning Operations team with the objective of ensuring all services and associated projects are delivered using best-practice and are delivered within the agreed scope, time and quality.
Responsible for line management and support for hiring and development of team staff.
Responsible for coordinating the overall portfolio of data provisioning requests, providing expert knowledge & support to team staff and monitoring progress and reporting on
Accountable for e2e process, measurement of and continually evolve and improve the process that will strengthen AstraZeneca & group companies’ ability to re-use data
The role must provide strong leadership to promote standard methodologies in managing requests to ensure successful delivery.
Accountable for ensuring that your team have the resources, tools, processes and training to deliver successfully.
Identify and implement strategies to drive increased re use of data to deliver innovation to the AstraZeneca drug portfolio.
Own business and process change accountability for introduction of new tools and technologies your team will employ.
Education, skills and experience required
Strong Project / Programme Manager skills with 10+ years in managing a global operational delivery team
In-depth knowledge and experience in information and knowledge management systems and their application in data sharing, including of clinical data. GxP experienced and demonstrated experience in data governance and data privacy.
Post-graduate qualification in a scientific, medical, technological or life sciences subject or equivalent (First Degree, professional qualification and extensive experience)
Lean Six-Sigma experience desired
Excellent interpersonal skills and facilitation skills with the ability to work with others to achieve objectives
Extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry working in the clinical information arena and clinical development processes
A consistent record of delivering business value and experience of defining and implementing and achieving or exceeding agreed service levels
Experience of working in a global organisation with complex/geographical context
Strong networking and consulting skills with ability to develop links across R&D functions (Development Operations, Digital Health, Alliance Management, CTT, Legal, Data Privacy)
Demonstrate strong communication skills with the ability to influence others to achieve objectives
Task and preferably line management of a team, with accountability for their successful delivery.
