This is an exciting time to join the Council as we bring the old Royal London Hospital in the heart of Whitechapel back to life as the Council’s administrative centre and Town Hall. Conveniently located opposite the underground station with good transport links including the new Elizabeth Line. Tower Hamlets offers the best of London in one borough. The list is long but includes Brick Lane, Victoria Park, Canary Wharf, Columbia Road Market, Tower of London, V&A Museum of Childhood and Whitechapel Art Gallery.
Our professional HR and Learning Organisation and Cultural Development (LOCD) Team play a crucial role providing a range of services and expertise across all areas of the Council’s work.
This role will play a key part in supporting the work of HR to determine the cause of the Council’s pay gaps in terms of gender and ethnicity, and determining actions needed to close them. They will also manipulate, interrogate, and analyse HR related data as needed.
We are looking for an experienced data analyst, with strong analytical and numerical skills and knowledge, and a demonstrable ability to work with complex datasets.
The successful candidate should have advanced knowledge and experience in using business intelligence, analytics and visualisation tools and mediums, including Power BI, Excel, and Business Objects, to make data accessible for the development of actionable insights and to present data in high impact visualisations.
Alongside this, experience of successfully managing and delivering data product projects or programmes and of data modelling is essential.
Tower Hamlets vision for our borough is that: people are aspirational, independent and have equal access to opportunities; we are a borough that our residents are proud of and love to live in; and we are a dynamic, outcomes-based council using digital innovation and partnership working to respond to the changing needs of our borough. We want people who aspire to our TOWER values: Together; Open; Willing; Excellent; Respect.
Tower Hamlets has a zero-tolerance approach to, and works to eradicate, all forms of discrimination on the basis of race, sex, disability, age, religion or belief, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, marital status, status as a civil partner, gender, gender identity, gender expression, pregnancy and maternity and looks to employ a diverse workforce representative of those groups. We recognise that people can also be disadvantaged by their social and economic circumstances, so we will work to eliminate discrimination and disadvantage caused by social class.
We welcome applicants interested in flexible working arrangements and also applicants who live in the borough.
