Project Manager Inside IR35

Contract Term: 12 Months

Contracting Authority: Network Rail

Location: London (Hybrid working available, 3 days in the office, weekend work may be required on occasion.)

Project Managers work across the full portfolio of Network Rails infrastructure investment from minor renewals through to complex multi-disciplinary programmes. Accountable for delivering Building and Electrical projects. Each projects is valued up to 1 million pounds, with an annual spend of £15 to £20 million.

As a Project Manager, your main responsibilities would be:

  • Accountable for delivery of complex projects or a portfolio of lower complexity projects in a safe & environmentally responsible manner to time, cost and quality, in accordance with the Governance of Railway Investment Projects (GRIP), applicable Network Rail company standards, current legislation and procedures including HMRI guidance where appropriate.
  • Support the project Sponsor in preparing and maintaining definitions of the project requirements.
  • Lead and develop multi-disciplinary teams including commercial, programme controls, engineering, and others to identify solutions to client requirements and establish a robust baseline plan.
  • Identify and monitor project risks (threats and opportunities), plan and implement mitigations to them, and respond to other issues that affect the project
  • Implement and manage resource allocation plans needed for delivery of the project including identification and management of critical resource requirements. Secure resources needed for projects from internal and external sources.
  • Engage with and lead stakeholder relationships including internal and external parties, taking account of their levels of influence and particular interests.
  • Undertake accident investigations when remitted to by the relevant designated competent person.

You’ll have relevant experience in:

  • Construction Experience
  • The Rail Industry Sector (including application of GRIP, Construction Design Management (CDM) and the Common Safety Method (CSM).
  • A complex project environment including demonstrable experience in team management, planning, contracting and delivery of projects.

You will also have these Qualifications/Skills:

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills all levels. This should include Customers, 3rd party representatives, other business & functional leaders and key support personnel.
  • Membership (or working towards membership) of the Association for Project Management.
