About us

The Institute of Epidemiology and Health Careis part of the UCL Faculty of Population Health Sciences, which belongs to the School of Life and Medical Sciences. This post is based in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health which is led by Professor Anne McMunn. Our department’s research covers a broad range of public health topics and has significant real-world impact, informing policy both in the United Kingdom and around the world, and the wider public understanding of health inequalities. About the role

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary research team that is leading a a mixed-methods study on physical punishment and child outcomes, funded by The Nuffield Foundation. Partnering with the NSPCC and working with an advisory group of children and young people, the project will produce UK-relevant causal evidence on the impact of physical punishment on children's development and wellbeing, and explore issues around law reform. The project team includes researchers from the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health and UCL's Faculty of Education and Society. The postholder will work on the qualitative strand of the project and be involved in the collection, analysis, and management of qualitative data from stakeholder interviews. An acceptable DBS check is required to carry out this role. The post is funded for 2 years (May 2023 - April 2025).


The salary is £34,502- £35,411 inclusive of LA (pro rata for part-time).

About you

Applicants should have an MSc (or equivalent experience) in public health, epidemiology, population health, health psychology, or a related discipline. You will be able to demonstrate experience in qualitative data collection and analysis, and effective organisational skills. The post holder will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and will be supported by experienced senior members of the team.
