Job Description :

The post holder will provide professional skills and expertise to tackle security management and Operational issues including crime via a range of proactive and reactive actions. The post holder will ensure high quality local delivery of this work, within a national legal framework for security operational management work, and according to legislative requirements, standards, advice and guidance provided by NHS England (NHSE) and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

The post holder will assist the Head of Security In developing, promoting and embedding a positive personal safety and security culture within the organisation by the implementation of polices procedures , arrangements and programs of training

The post holder will at all times promote and uphold the values and beliefs of the Trust, be focused on delivering the highest quality patient care, and improving the working lives of staff.

To supervise the department’s uniformed security officers across all sites in daily operational matters and to ensure that all serious incidents associated with violence, assault (physical or verbal) or physical security are investigated and that the lessons learnt are widely shared and disseminate and are used to change operational practices and procedures.

The post holder will at all times promote and uphold the values and beliefs of the Trust, be focused on delivering the highest quality patient care, and improving the working lives of staff.

The duties and responsibilities of the post will be undertaken in accordance with the policies, procedures and practices of the Trust, which may be amended from time to time.

To undertake duties with in legislation of the NHS standards in accordance with secretary of state directions to health bodies to tackle violence and general security management duties.

Ability to influence key stakeholders within a complex organisational structure

Project Manage and/or change management experience

To ensure that the lessons learnt from security incidents and breaches can be fed into risk analysis, both locally and nationally, so that appropriate prevent measures can be developed.

To advise LUHFT on security issues affecting acute services in order to influence national policy.

To increase levels of prosecutions against the perpetrators of crimes against LUHFT, by encouraging victims of violence to report incidents to the Police, ensuring that where decisions are taken not to prosecute that adequate explanations are obtained.

To assist on day to day work in supporting staff who have been the victims of abuse in a sensitive manner, providing a supportive service, and advising staff on actions taken by the Police or the Crown Prosecution Service.

To ensure that all security incidents are reported to external bodies, as appropriate.

To forge good working relationships with key stakeholders on violence and security management issues.
