Job Description

Mitie has a great opportunity in The Bullring Shopping Centre, Birmingham. We are looking for an experienced Security Officer to join the Team on site, you will take a lead role on site on a daily basis. Your shift pattern will be discussed at interview with an hourly rate of £11.50, working a guaranteed 46 hours a week. You will report into the sites Security Operation's Manager.

Within this role you will be expected to:

• Participate in regular patrolling of the malls, back of house areas, car parks and external areas, assisting customers as needed.
• Participate in the locking down of malls and car parks.
• Carry out regular checks and report findings to Control.
• Deter and prevent crime and unacceptable behaviour.
• Look after the safety of visitors, retailer's customers and fellow employees.
• Operate within the confines of the company's policies, procedures and rules.
• Operate within the confines of the policies, procedures and rules of the Security Industry Authority (SIA).
• Working knowledge of Health and Safety related legislation including the general requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
• Assist with the setup, management and break down of any on-site events.
• Attend any training or courses that the company feels is relevant to your role or your personal development.
• Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
• To work in accordance with Bullring's Environmental policy including all legal and other requirements that are applicable. This includes a requirement to:
• Substantially reduce our carbon footprint, maximise efficiency of natural resources, reduce waste and increase recycling and prevent pollution and contamination where possible

Security and Health & Safety

• Look out for, and to immediately report, any Health & Safety hazards, or potential hazards, on site.
• Stay alert to any threats or changes within the work environment in order to take the appropriate action to reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage.
• Use common sense and initiative by immediately involving others if a situation appears to become threatening.
• To maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.
• Complete an accurate, detailed notebook entry as soon as possible after any incident, which can then be used as part of the Incident Report process.
• Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.
• To ensure check calls are being carried out at the allocated time slot as stipulated in the Assignment Instructions (AI's).
• To call emergency services and Communication Centre to report all incidents.

What we are looking for

• SIA Door Supervisor Licence is essential
